Kazgermunai Implements an Electronic Permit-to-Work System

Kazgermunai has put into test production an electronic permit-to-work system, enabling full digitalization of the organization and control of high‑risk operations.

The system covers the entire cycle - from registration and approval to document closure. Signing is carried out online using an electronic digital signature via a computer, Kaztoken smart cards or the EGov Mobile app directly at production facilities.

The time required to process and approve work permits has been reduced from 2–10 hours to 15–30 minutes. This made it possible to speed up production work, reduce time expenditures and improve the promptness of decision-making.

To improve industrial safety, the system automatically generates a list of potential risks and required controls based on the type of work being performed, which reduces the likelihood of technical and administrative errors.

The system also provides employees with up‑to‑date information about all ongoing work. An interactive map of production facilities has been implemented for operational monitoring.

Furthermore, a unified electronic document archive has been created, which enables prompt audits, analysis of production processes, and the use of accumulated data for further improvement.

Following the implementation, it is expected that production downtime will be reduced by more than 8,000 labor hours per year. In addition, eliminating paper-based document approval will reduce the annual volume of business trips by more than 22,000 km.

The next stage involves the implementation of artificial intelligence elements that will enable automatic completion of risk analysis and the generation of a safe work action plan.

It is also planned to extend the system to contractors and suppliers performing work at production facilities. This will make it possible to create a unified digital framework and ensure compliance with uniform security requirements.

The implementation of the electronic permit-to-work system marks the next stage in the digital transformation of KMG's subsidiaries.
