Silleno Construction Site Receives the Project Largest Column

The project of Sileno LLP (Silleno, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas NC JSC) is a large‑scale initiative in the petrochemical industry of Kazakhstan, aimed at creating the country’s first integrated gas chemical complex for polyethylene production. 

The fractional column — the project largest vertical piece of equipment — has been delivered to the construction site of the future polyethylene plant. This is the first unit of large-sized equipment that has arrived directly at the complex assembly site. The column was manufactured at the facilities of the AtyrauNefteMash plant.  

Technical parameters of the column:

• height – 101.8 meters (this is higher than a 30-story residential building);
• diameter – 7.5 meters;
• weight – about 1,500 tonnes.

The equipment is the heart of the pyrolysis unit: it is in this column that ethylene — the key feedstock for polyethylene production — will be separated.  

The route ran from the manufacturing plant in Atyrau to the construction site in the National Industrial Petrochemical Technology Park special economic zone. A self-propelled modular transporter was used for transportation; it distributes the load so that the axle pressure does not exceed 10 tonnes. This prevents damage to the road surface. The transportation was carried out during daylight at a traffic safety speed (approximately 2 to 4 km/h).

It should be noted that the delivery of large‑scale equipment is not merely a logistical step, but the establishment of a technical foundation for launching active installation work.

Overall, manufacturing equipment of this scale and technical complexity at Kazakhstan's enterprise is a significant step towards strengthening localization. This project confirms the growing competencies of domestic manufacturers, creates new opportunities for the industry, and expands the participation of Kazakh companies in implementing the country's largest petrochemical initiatives.
