KMG and CNPC Strengthen Mutually Beneficial Cooperation
23.06.2025
Askhat Khassenov, Chair of the Management Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC (KMG), held a meeting with Zhang Daowei, Vice President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
The parties held discussions on several joint strategic initiatives. In particular, they reviewed the terms of gas supplies from the Urikhtau field to the Zhanazhol Gas Processing Plant in the Aktobe Region, operated by CNPC-Aktobemunaigas JSC.
Raw gas supply is scheduled to begin in Q4 2026 at a volume of up to 200 million m³ per year, with an increase to approximately 1 billion m³ per year starting in December 2027.
In parallel, work is ongoing to develop project documentation for the Urikhtau field infrastructure, as well as gas well testing to analyse the gas composition in detail and determine the most efficient processing methods. The parties also discussed the current operations of joint ventures, with particular focus on the Mangistaumunaigas JSC’s fields.
Special attention was given to the efficient development of mature fields, including the extraction of hard-to-recover reserves using enhanced oil recovery technologies such as polymer flooding, the use of cross-linked polymeric composition, and the drilling of technologically complex wells.
Askhat Khassenov and Zhang Daowei concluded the meeting by confirming their shared commitment to ongoing collaboration across all strategic initiatives to promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
