Karachaganak project
The Karachaganak oil and gas condensate field is one of the world's largest oil and gas condensate fields, located in the West Kazakhstan region and covering an area of more than 280 km2. The field was discovered in 1979, with pilot development started in 1984.
The Final Production Sharing Agreement (FPSA) of Karachaganak was signed by the Republic of Kazakhstan and an international consortium on November 18, 1997. Royal Dutch Shell and Eni are the joint operators of the Karachaganak project, which is being implemented via Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO). Shareholder ownership in KPO: KMG (10%), Eni (29.25%), Shell (29.25%), Chevron (18.00%), and LUKOIL (13.5%).
