Heads of KazMunayGas and Chevron Discuss Implementation of Joint Projects

18.08.2022

On 18 August, Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC “KazMunayGas” (KMG), held negotiations via video conference with Michael Wirth, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Chevron Corporation.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues relevant to bilateral cooperation. In particular, they addressed the priority tasks related to export of oil and petroleum products by Tengizchevroil LLP.

A separate item on the agenda was implementation of petrochemical projects.

“Given the global trends in the search for alternative energy sources, the key to maintaining the priority status of the oil and gas sector seems to be the development of petrochemical industry, which will become the main consumer of the produced oil and gas. With Chevron’s support, the raw materials for the current anchor polypropylene, polyethylene and butadiene production projects are supplied from the Tengiz field,” noted M. Mirzagaliyev.

The heads of KMG and Chevron also emphasised the need to timely implement the Future Growth Project – Wellhead Pressure Control Project (FGP–WPCP) and to support the local executive authorities as related to FGP–WPCP completion and phased release of employees.
