Offshore Drilling Management

In the Kazakhstani sector of the Caspian Sea, KMG is carrying out exploration work at the Abay, Isatai, Zhenis, and Al-Farabi sites. To share risks with KMG, following subsoil use contracts and cooperation agreements, these works are carried out by enterprises created jointly with partners (ENI, Lukoil, etc.).

Example

In 2021, together with PJSC «LUKOIL», KMG conducted preparatory work for drilling an exploratory well at the «Zhenis» block. The «Zhenis» block is located in the Kazakhstani sector of the Caspian Sea at a depth of 75-100 m. The distance from the block to the port of Aktau is 180 km, and the licensed area is 6,848 square km. In accordance with the concluded contract, the main minimal obligations include the drilling of one exploration well and a 3D seismic survey. The operator of this project is the joint venture «Zhenis Operating». The new project in the Caspian Sea is an important step for Company in expanding the resource base in a strategic region with significant accumulated competencies. In 2022, it is planned to drill the first exploration well in the Zhenis area.
