On the issues of emissions management

The first meeting of the working group for emissions management chaired by Vincent Spinelli, Managing Director – Environment, Health & Safety Manager of KMG, took place in JSC NC “KazMunayGas”.

The group, established under the Transformation Program of JSC NC “KazMunayGas”, included the heads of specialized structural units and specialists of the subsidiary and dependent entities addressing the environmental issues.

During the meeting, the main problems in the field of greenhouse gas emissions management and their solutions, as well as the experience of the European Union countries in the field of GG emissions management were considered. Representatives of “Zhasyl Damu” JSC, “Caspian” Commodity exchange” JSC, “Consus Carbon Engineering” (Poland) and “Carbon Limits” (Norway), “KazEcoProject” LLP made their presentations.

An interesting discussion on managing the greenhouse gas emissions management by KazMunayGas group of companies, the urgent need to transit to benchmarking approach in GG emissions quotas allocation as well as on improving Kazakhstan legislation in the field of emissions regulation was held.

It is noted that reduction of emissions is directly connected with the increase of energy efficiency. Therefore, we should pay more attention to this issue. Moreover, this year KMG is expected to develop the corporate strategy for emissions management. To develop the document, the experts of the working group will be drawn.
