Rompetrol Group, through their social responsibility platform named “Energy comes from your heart”, donated to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit within the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Emergency Children’s Clinical Hospital medical equipments in the amount of USD 75,000.
“We are well aware of the fact that a quality medical act implies both the continuous professional improvement of the staff and the access to material resources and cutting edge technologies. Through this donation, the Rompetrol Group joins the efforts that the medical team makes every day in order to save lives and improve the children’s conditions and treatment standards. Through the social responsibility programs developed constantly on a company level we wish to contribute significantly to the improvement of the social aspects specific to the communities in which we perform our activity”, according to Gavit Kurkimov, Vice-President of the Business Development Division of the Rompetrol Group.
The medical equipments that are subject to donation: 1 DASH 2500 life support monitor, 3 AVEA intensive care artificial ventilation devices, 1 ATOM radiation table, 1 SEP 10-S PLUS automatic syringe, 1 P-600 ATOM infusion pump will facilitate the medical interventions of the 5 doctors and 13 nurses of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.
“The generous contribution of the Rompetrol Group will offer one extra chance to life to the premature babies and will determine the improvement of their treatment conditions, having in mind that there are only two units in Bucharest that may ensure the treatment and care of the newborn babies that need emergency surgical interventions, the Grigore Alexandrescu Children’s Emergency Clinical Hospital being one of them. Taking into account the profile of the patients hospitalised in the intensive care unit, we estimate that approximately 75-80 newborns will benefit from the donated equipments each year”, Dr. Viorel Dan, Chief of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit declares.
In 2010, the number of patients hospitalised in the unit was of 32.126, thereof 219 newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
