The site territory belongs to the sea zone with the depths 8-10 m.
The main oil and gas prospects of «Zhemchuzhina» field are connected with Jurassic deposits.
The project is implemented in accordance with Agreement of May 31, 1993 between the Government of the RoK and The Government of Sultan Oman. On December 14, 2005, Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources of the RoK, NC «KazMunayGas» JSC and Company «Oman Pearls» signed Product sharing agreement on «Zhemchuzhina» project. Later, «Oman Pearls» and «Shell» signed a share transfer agreement on this project. Also, NC «KazMunayGas» JSC , «Oman Pearls « and «Shell» signed Shared activity agreement on «Zhemchuzhina» structure development, in which the Parties defined mutual rights and obligations.
On October 2, 2007, NC «KazMunayGas» JSC officially confirmed oil presence on «Zhemchuzhina» field.
