«Atashsky» field is located in the central part of Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian sea. The distance from the western border of the field to the nearest coast is 90 km, with the eastern and south-eastern sections of the field bordering Mangystau region.
The sea depth of the infrastructure zone ranges from 1-40 m.
The main oil and gas prospects on «Atashsky» field are connected with carbonate-terrigenous, Jurassic-cretaceous and probably trias deposits complex. The exploration of «Atashsky» field between Ministry od energy and mineral resources of RK and NC «KazMunayGas» JSC was signed on December 29, 2003. The contract is implemented by «Company Arash» Ltd which belongs in equal shares to NC «KazMunayTeniz» JSC and «Lukoil overseas Shelf B.V.»
In 2004, 2 D seismic exploration was carried out on the structure «Atash» within the scope of 1057 km. In 2005 new and archive seismic data was updated, processed and interpreted.
