To date, the main active sea transportation routes are:
- Aktau-Baku (the Caspian Sea);
- Aktau-Makhachkala (the Caspian Sea);
- Routes from Black Sea ports.
In 2010 more than 6 million tons (64%) from 9.5 million tons of the total amount transshipped in the port of Aktau. At the end of 2010 more than 1 million tons of oil were transported by “NMSC “Kazmortransflot” JSC on the Black Sea.
At present “NMSC “Kazmortransflot” JSC is working to acquire “Aframax” type tankers. This will allow oil volumes transporting by “NC “KMG” JSC on open seas and by own vessels.
